Drain cleaning as opposed to just drain unclogging, what's the diffence? Well... it turns out, quite a big difference! Poking a hole as it’s sometimes refered to, is as it sounds, the plumber comes and unclogs a drain which seems great! Waste water is draining again and that nasty sewage is gone! Yet all he did was punch a 2 inch hole through the clog in a 6 inch main line drain. Is the drain line really clear? Let us assume the clog was caused by root ingress through a pipe joint, (a very common problem here in Montreal) chances are there will still be a lot more roots in the pipe and before too long another sewage back up will occur. One sure way to know is with a camera to verify the drain. With a drain camera and a special high-speed cutting tool, all those remaining roots can effectively cut back to the pipe wall, leaving the drain ready to be patch lined for a permanent fix (patch liners come with a 50 year guarantee). This method of fully cleaning the drain and addressing the cause of the clog means we have completely eliminated the risk of a future sewage back up. I never took into account that there is a good chance of having more roots in the pipes if that is the cause of the issue. We might need to hire drainage repair services if that is the case, because we have had lots of trees in the backyard over the ten years of living here. And it's only just now that we got a clogging issue.

I love that you talked about how to drain inspection could help identify the appropriate process for proper cleaning. My uncle informed me yesterday that he wanted to get their drain cleaned due to clogged pipes because of grease. He asked if I had ideas on the best option to resolve the issue. I'll tell him he can consult a trusted drain cleaning service as they can provide details about the draining process. I’m glad about this helpful article.

It really helped when you said that using a camera is going to verify if there are more routes in the pipes and other issues. We have to look for a drain cleaning service with that kind of tool or equipment to actually get to the root cause of the issue on our property. And I worry that our toilet might back up which can be a hygiene issue if we do not get it fixed as well as possible. We need the problem to be fixed from its root cause to prevent it from happening.
